Cardiac Physiology Core

FUNCTION: Cardiovascular pathology is a common and an important finding in animal studies, especially in genetically altered animals.  It is also closely associated with endocrine abnormalities, pulmonary pathology, vascular pathology, etc.  The goal of Cardiac Physiology Core is to provide expertise in evaluation of cardiac pathology for non-cardiovascular and cardiovascular researchers who are not equipped for such analysis.  We provide non-invasive and invasive evaluation of cardiac physiology that may be difficult or time-consuming for those investigators without proper expertise, experience and equipments.

SERVICES AND FEES:   Several commonly utilize non-invasive (short-term or long-term ECG and echocardiogram) and invasive hemodynamic measurements are offered.  Also, several surgical techniques are offered to induce experimental myocardial infarction, aortic banding or ischemia/reperfusion.  All these techniques could be done in mice and rats.  Furthermore, other specialized services that are being used in cardiovascular research can be arranged depending on the need of the particular investigator.  If you are interested in utilizing the Core services, please contact Dr. Peter Kang.
