BIDMC Electronic Grant Application Start Page

eSubmission Overview: This web page provides all the information you need to start and edit a Grants.gov electronic application

Contact your Research Administrator (RA) or Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) for issues associated with your grant submission.

eSubmission Application Processing - PIs Start Here!                                                                                                             Process Supported by OSP

1)  Find and Register your
Grant Application Package

Use this link to find and register a funding opportunity package from Grants.Gov. Your package will be loaded to your eSubmission folder, and your Research Administrator will be notified you are planning to submit!

2) Edit your Grant Package

(Note: there are now two options PureEdge and Adobe PDF for submitting packages - please select the correct link below.  Institutional Facts: eSubmission Fact Sheet

     2a) PureEdge

Use this link to edit your PureEdge package. This Metaframe application works for PC and Mac users located anywhere! 

     2b) PDF (coming soon!)

Use this link to edit your Adobe PDF package. This Metaframe application works for PC and Mac users located anywhere!

3) Convert your research
documents into individual
PDF files and attach these
to your application package

Your package will contain PDF attachments; You will need a PDF converter.  If you do not have one, select from the options below.

« Create PDFs with Acrobat Writer our Metaframe based solution will allow you to create PDFs from any machine or location.  If you need assistance to produce your attachments see our Acrobat PDF Help Guide

« Use file copy to create PDFs; use the eSubmission _PDFConvertStart folder to automatically convert your documents into PDF files! The resulting PDF file can be found in the \PDFDone folder while your original will be in \Originals folder.

4)  Electronically sign your
Grant Application Package

As part of the grant submission process you must certify that the application is compliant with federal guidelines.  When you have completed your eSubmission package, use this link to electronically sign your application.

PDF Note: Grants.Gov PDF packages are very sensitive to the version of Adobe Reader/Writer used.  Only Reader 8.1.1/8.1.2 & Writer 8.1.2 are able to safely edit a package; Using another version will cause the package to fail processing when submitted.  Click here for downloading Adobe Reader and details on issues.

Metaframe Note: If you see "[WFClient...]" or "File Save or Open" message when connecting to PureEdge or PDF links above, you need to install MetaFrame
Mac Users: If you get a "Connection Broken" message connecting to PureEdge or PDF, your Metaframe client must be updated  MetaFrame Client - PC

Important Rules for your eSubmission package filename and PDF attachments:

  « Do not rename your PureEdge or PDF package!                      « Do not use spaces or special characters (- # * / \ |) in your PDF attachment file names

The change from paper to electronic submission is significant; the process is a partnership between PI, RA & OSP.  To help this transition, everyone associated with grant submission must attend training in the Deaconess Computer Lab.  Need directions to DE-300 Computer Lab?

    "How-to" Documentation

eSubmission packages are stored on a central file share to enable all parties to access it. Use your eSubmission folder to store your PDF and other associated documents.  Directions for PC and Mac users to connect to this share!
