Introduction:
|
It has been identified that there is a knowledge deficit about the dose and route of epinephrine for the treatment of anaphylaxis. To prevent patient, the institution has purchased epinephrine auto injector pens (EpiPens) to be placed in each code cart. Staff need to be aware of the reason for use, location, and know how to activate these pens. Proper training is required to assure the patient receives the dose in a timely manner, and to prevent staff from injecting their hand during this process.
