Areas of Interest:

Cancer & Hematologic

Major Research Theme:

Summary of research interests:

1.  Nonhematopoietic functions of erythropoietin, particularly the effect of Epo on the growth and survival of tumor cells.

2.  The functional significance of the erythropoietin receptor (EpoR) in prostate and ovarian cancer.

3.  The role of the EpoR in the pathogenesis and progression of breast cancer.

4.  Hematopoietic growth factors and their receptors - including a) the role of receptor crosstalk in modulation of growth factor function, b) interaction of thrombopoietin (TPO) with the erythropoietin (EPO) receptor on erythroid progenitors, and c) non-hematopoietic functions of hematopoietic growth factors
