Major Research Theme:

I have focused on a number of clinical research themes related to renal transplantation.  One is improving the process of evaluating potential living kidney donors.  We continue to survey US transplant programs to document current practices in the hope of improving care.  We also have a number of ongoing studies related to immunosuppressive protocols, including the appropriate use of IL2 receptor antibodies, siroliumus, anti-thymocyte globulin and novel immunosuppressive agents.  I am also collaborating with members of the BIDMC radiology department as well as biotechnology companies to develop novel methods of measuring kidney function.  I plan to apply these techniques to potential as well as past living kidney donors, renal transplant recipients and patients with chronic kidney disease
