Areas of Interest:

Immunology, Transplantation

Patient Oriented / Translational

Major Research Theme:

A.Demonstrate that HO-1 expression in organs or in islets will prolong survival of tthe organ/islets after transplantation.

B.Determine which product of HO-1 action on heme will mimic the results of HO-1 expression.

C.Test whether combined use of two products, such as carbon monoxide plus bilirubin, will show an additive or synergistic protective effect.

D.Study the interrelationship of nitric oxide and carbon monoxide.
