Major Research Theme
| My laboratory seeks to identify and characterize interactions between bacterial pathogens and the host that lead to vascular disease. Specifically, we have been examining two pathogens, Bartonella henselae and Bacillus. We have been investigating how the former induces angiogenesis and have identified a potent anti-apoptotic activity contributing to this process. We have also been studying the pathophysiological basis for Bacillus-induced vascular damage, a primary terminal pathology of Bacillus infection. |
