Major Research Theme
Clinical research projects involve assessment of novel anticoagulation strategies and the quantitative interpretation of angiographic data.   Current clinical research evaluates of the role of time delays in outcomes for acute myocardial infarction using the National Registry of Myocardial Infarction database. Work as the Peripheral Core Laboratory Director in the TIMI Data Coordinating Center.  In the process of developing the angiographic techniques to quantitatively evaluate angiographic data in various noncardiac vascular beds using integration of quantitative techniques to standardize the evaluation of outcomes of peripheral pharmacologic and device interventions. I participate as the  principle investigator or co-investigator of large clinical trials in the interventional catheterization laboratory studying novel anticoagulation strategies (ACUITY), drug-eluting stents (ENDEAVOR IV), systemic cooling for patients with acute myocardial infarction (COOL-MI2), and cardiogenic shock (SHOCK-2).  Current local projects also include validation of innovative techniques for percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with complex arterial disease referred to the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center coronary and peripheral catheterization laboratory.
