Major Research Theme
We study determinants of skeletal fragility, using animals models, human cadaveric specimens and clinical studies. Knowledge in this area will enhance the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases. In particular, we are investigating biomechanical approaches to predicting osteoporotic fracture risk; studying genetic determinants of bone structure and strength, in collaboration with individuals at the Jackson Laboratory; and investigating mechanisms underlying anabolic activity in bone. |
